Since its birth in 2011, Cherry CaRES has been reaching out and transforming communities through its advocacies comprised of Health, Livelihood, Environment, Disaster Response, Volunteerism, Special Projects, and Education of which CherrySkwela is the program’s flagship advocacy. This has been the company’s response in promoting and supporting quality education through its projects encompassing scholarship grants, youth development, tailored-fit training/workshops for community leaders, Adopt-a-School, and its back-to-school project dubbed as “Be Cool in School”, which helps students, particularly the indigenous children, stay in school by providing them basic school supplies.
Cherry Mobile Partners with NCIP and DepEd
This year, Cherry Mobile partners with the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) and the Department of Education (DepEd) to strengthen its advocacy on IP kids’ right to obtain quality education where help is highly needed.
From this year’s school opening alone, 11, 000 indigent kids have been served nationwide. Many of these beneficiaries were IP communities from 15 provinces, specifically Aeta, Abelling, Dumagat-Remontado, Ati, Bantoanon, Bukinon Iraynon, Cuyonin, Ifugao, Mangyan, Te’duray and Lambangian.
More than the provision of school supplies, the CSR team together with NCIP provincial staff empowered these indigent kids and their parents through engaging learning sessions on children’s right in the context of indigent people.
CherrySkwela’s advocacy on quality education continues by constructing and renovating more classrooms, providing learning materials and other educational needs of the underserved communities across the country.
To date, the CherrySkwela has already helped and served 48,103 indigent kids, 251 schools, and 90 scholars, and has trained 950 individuals nationwide.
Mobilizing and Strengthening the Nation
The brand, along with all its advocacies and social causes, continues to mobilize and strengthen the nation by initiating programs and services that are highly relevant to the needs of it target beneficiaries or stakeholders.
“In all ways, we try to lend support and assistance. Cherry Mobile has always been a staunch supporter of advocacies for the greater good. We urge everyone; we need to come together and be one with the movement that creates change and sustains it. By doing that, we can truly transform our country,” Cherry Mobile VP for Operations Michelle Ngu-Cinco ends.
